We are thrilled to announce that application season for the 2017 National Roadway Safety Awards has begun!
Here at RSF, this is always one of our favorite programs, because it gives us an opportunity to recognize the unsung heroes of roadway safety that are in every community, big and small, across the country. Particularly in this time of tight local and state budgets, and alarming national trends showing a dramatic uptick in road deaths and injuries, it is important to identify where successes have been achieved, and promote the lessons learned for replication elsewhere.
This is precisely the goal of the National Roadway Safety Awards. Together with our dedicated partners at the Federal Highway Administration, we recognize the best-of-the-best in this biennial competition. All public agencies are invited to apply, and our Blue Ribbon Panel of judges will be looking for innovative, cost-effective, lifesaving roadway projects that we can honor this Fall on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Winners will be flown to the nation's capital for a luncheon and recognition ceremony with transportation officials and elected leaders, and will have their projects included in a Noteworthy Practices Guide published and disseminated by RSF and FHWA. Additionally, national and industry press will cover the event, and we provide local media support to ensure each winner receives the recognition they deserve back home.
Please visit roadwaysafety.org/awards for complete details, case studies from previous winning projects, and the official 2017 online nomination form. On behalf of the entire Awards team, thank you for all you do to save lives in communities nationwide. We can't wait to see what you've been up to!
