Safer Roads: Building Safety Into Your Drive Campaign Moves Forward
With funds from a multi-year grant from the Federal Highway Administration, RSF announced a technical assistance program to support worthy candidates seeking assistance from a national public education campaign on road safety. From over 20 applications, six winners were identified by a panel of judges from FHWA, RSF, AAA and AARP. Technical assistance grants were awarded to the following:

South Carolina DOT - $75K for educating the public about the safety benefits of paved shoulders and rumble strips;

University of Delaware - $50K for “Delaware Senior Safety Campaign;”

Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) - $50K for a PI&E campaign to raise awareness of the safety benefits of cable guardrail along freeway medians;

Utah Department of Transportation - $25K for RSF partnership on zero fatalities campaign messages based on usRAP risk maps;

Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP) of Michigan Technological University - $25K for outreach to the Native American community on the importance of roadway safety interventions; and
-
Cook County, MN Highway Department - $15K for PI&E plan to educate locals and tourists on the importance of roadway safety interventions.
