2011 National Roadway Safety Awards

The Roadway Safety Foundation (RSF) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recognized nine exemplary highway projects and programs from across the country as winners of the biennial National Roadway Safety Awards on November 15, 2011 on Capitol Hill.  Recipients of awards included State and local departments of transportation (DOT), a State department of public safety, a local technical assistance program and a private firm.   The award winners are credited for reducing fatalities and injuries on our Nation’s roadways through excellence and innovation in operations, planning, and design.  Keynote remarks were given by U.S. Department of Transportation Deputy Secretary John Porcari.  Read our national release here.

2009 National Roadway Safety Awards

RSF and the Federal Highway Administration hosted the 2009 National Roadway Safety Awards on November 5th on Capitol Hill with a featured keynote address from US DOT Secretary Ray LaHood. For full event details, click here.

The National Roadway Safety Awards program honors agencies and organizations in the transportation community that have made verifiable and significant strides toward improving the safety of our nation’s highways through infrastructure improvements, operational improvements or program planning, development and evaluation. Every two years, this prestigious biennial awards program examines the “best of the best” using effectiveness, innovation, and efficient use of resources as criteria in determining which projects will receive this coveted award. Co-sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and Roadway Safety Foundation, this program has garnered winning entrants well-deserved top industry honors since 2001.
