Highlights of Major Efforts & Initiatives
Since
signing the Cooperative Agreement with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
last fall, RSF has made progress toward reigniting operations and launching the
three major tasks spelled out in the grant. Some of the programs that RSF has
been working on include a new Highway Safety Partners venture with the American
Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators; support for the U.S. Road Assessment
Program; and participation in the DOT Motorcycle Safety Partnership. To

The
Roadway Safety Foundation and the Federal Highway Administration recognized the
winners of the National Roadway Safety Awards on November 7, 2007. The winners

Gillen Named Managing Director of RSF

Informational Publications
The
Roadway Safety Foundation has released two new brochures. "Roadway
Safety Is No Accident" is a new three-fold brochure that serves as
a general introduction to the foundation's goals and programs. In addition,
RSF updated its mini-reference guide, "The
Roadway Safety Checklist," which itemizes basic safety tips for drivers
concerning situations in which they should use extra caution on the road.

Roadway Safety Guide Available
The Roadway Safety Guide presents
roadway safety information and key resources in a format designed for local elected
officials, safety groups, and community leaders. The Guide shows how to
identify roadway hazards, choose countermeasures, build coalitions, and where
to get help to implement roadway safety initiatives. It also provides a roadway
safety checklist for assessing community hazards and examples of successful roadway
